A History of Revivals
Doug Stanton and his family were birthed into revival in their own church in Port Macquarie, Australia. At that time, Doug was permanently transformed by the move of God taking place in the 800-seat church that he built with his family. From here, Doug began to travel and minister in the United States and was welcomed with open arms. Wherever he ministered, revival fires broke out.
After experiencing ministerial burnout, Doug took a break in the U.S., where a meeting in upstate New York unexpectedly sparked a revival. The meetings outgrew multiple venues, eventually filling a large school auditorium and impacting the region profoundly. This event restored Doug’s calling and set the stage for DSMI’s international ministry.
Revivals continued in Florida and eventually a major revival broke out in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. This revival touched nearly 300 churches from around the city and state and sparked revival fires that have continued for the last 14 years around the Twin Cities and other parts of the world. In Elk River, Minnesota, the church and the marketplace were deeply impacted by a set of revival meetings. A book has been written about the ongoing revival in Elk River.
At North Heights Lutheran Church, one of the largest Lutheran churches in Minnesota, blind eyes were opening, the lame were walking, the deaf were hearing, and people didn’t want to go home at the end of the meeting each night during 19 days of meetings.
Doug and his family planted the Northside Fireplace in an old Skate Building in Brisbane, Australia. During this time a revival blew out for more than two years and thousands of lives were touched and transformed in his home land of Australia.
-2007: Over 27 weeks, DSMI hosted a revival in Blaine, drawing thousands from over 100 churches. Marked by hundreds of testimonies of healings, restored marriages, salvations, and renewed love for Jesus, this revival solidified DSMI’s regional impact. The meetings were held in a neutral venue to foster unity among churches.
DSMI established the Minneapolis Revival Center in a former 750-seat theater in Brooklyn Center. Starting in March 2008, daily meetings ran for six months, attracting nearly 10,000 attendees. Representing 45 Minneapolis churches, the revival emphasized refreshing local congregations without competing with them, with Karen Stanton and their children leading worship.
–2014: After moving to the Crystal Ballrooms and Event Center, DSMI nurtured a sustained revival spirit, training and equipping thousands. The center hosted international speakers and saw significant life transformations through nightly meetings, schools (attended by over 350 people at a time), and a baptism event with over 400 participants. This period marked a shift toward establishing a training hub for revivalists.
–2020: The Maplewood Revival at the Josiah Center, led initially by Doug and later by Pastor Dave Carlson, ran for over 420 days, with nearly 300 consecutive nights of full houses. Over 200 churches participated, with 50,000 attendees and 500,000 online views globally. People traveled from England, Sweden, Canada, and Japan to join, experiencing physical, emotional, and financial breakthroughs. Live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube, the revival featured powerful worship led by Karen, Sharna, and Daniel Stanton, with healings often occurring during worship.
DSMI expanded into crusade ministry, with Doug ministering to over 10,000 people in Itapagé, Brazil, alongside Dave Hauer. This event marked a new season for DSMI, fulfilling a 40-year-old prophetic vision of stadium ministry. The crusade focused on salvation and revival, with plans to train young ministers for future crusades at the DSMI Ranch in Alabama.
In September 2022, DSMI conducted a series of meetings across Minnesota, including Edina, Burnsville, Ramsey, and Big Lake. These gatherings reconnected with long-term supporters, with testimonies of lives changed over 27 years. The meetings reinforced DSMI’s enduring impact in the Twin Cities region.
These are just a few highlights from dozens of revivals that broke out in Australia, New York, Florida and Minnesota. The Stantons have ministered revival in at least 12 states in the last 14 years of ministry in America.
